The efficacy of retaining information for children in virtual or immersive environments is substantiated by research indicating that multisensory engagement fosters deeper understanding and knowledge retention. These environments create a conducive atmosphere for interactive and experiential learning, where students can explore, manipulate, and engage with the content, ultimately leading to more meaningful and lasting comprehension.

In the below example of one of our many lesson plans we show how Immersive learning encompasses more than just a passive session in an augmented reality room. Claude Monet Lesson Plan Example…

Introduction (10 minutes):

1. Ask students if they have ever heard of Claude Monet or seen his artwork before. Briefly discuss their prior knowledge of the artist.

2. Introduce Monet as a famous French artist who lived in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

3. Show examples of Monet's artwork using the projection mapping software and discuss his style, emphasizing the use of light and colour.

Interactive Activity 1 (20 minutes):

1. Have students take a virtual "walk" through Monet's garden in Giverny using the projection mapping software. Explain that Monet loved to paint nature and spent a lot of time in his garden.

2. Have students describe what they see and hear in the garden (e.g. flowers, water, birds).

3. Ask students to share what they think Monet liked about his garden and what they would like to have in their own gardens.

Interactive Activity 2 (20 minutes):

1. Using the projection mapping software, show a video clip or animation of Monet painting one of his famous works, such as Water Lilies.

2. Have students discuss what they notice about Monet's technique and style.

3. Encourage students to imitate Monet's style by creating their own impressionist-style artwork using the art supplies provided.

Closure (10 minutes):

1. Ask students to share their artwork with the class and explain what inspired them.

2. Recap the main points of the lesson, emphasizing Monet's love of nature and his use of light and colour in his artwork.

3. Encourage students to keep exploring and creating art in the style of Monet.

Assessment: Assessment can be done informally through observation of student participation in class discussions and art-making activities. The final artworks can also be used to assess understanding of Monet's style and technique.
